As we are in the second half of 2019, it is a good time to take a moment and recognize the accomplishments, progress on targets and goals that each of us had set for the year. We here at RTS are racing against time to wrap up projects as we kick-start new ones. Apart from keeping our focus on completing customer implementations on time, we are also applying finishing touches to the maintenance releases across passenger and cargo portfolios. We have had a few key milestones accomplished in the first half of the year that includes two large North American cargo organizations going live with Foresight– a revenue planning and sales budgeting tool, and Velocity– our revenue management solution. We are thrilled to welcome Air Canada Cargo who selected RTS Foresight as their Revenue Planning and Sales Budgeting Solution. In addition, we welcome Ellinair to the RTS family who selected us as its preferred revenue management provider. We are also happy to welcome Ethiopian Airlines Cargo to our fast growing community of cargo customers. RTS will also be providing updates for the 2019 Passenger velocity release later in the year. We are pretty proud of these and want to congratulate all who were involved.
We are actively participating in our marketing efforts as you can see in the scoop section where along with gearing up for our annual summit in Lisbon, our presence has been felt at other significant events around the world. After hosting our annual RTS Summit in Vienna, Cape Town, London, Barcelona, Dallas and Amsterdam in the last few years, we thought we will try out Lisbon in 2019 based on the voices that we heard during our summit last year.

IATA World Cargo Symposium, Singapore
RTS was proud to be one of the principal sponsors at IATA’s 13th annual World Cargo Symposium held from March 12th to 14th at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. RTS made its presence felt by sponsoring Cargo Executive Summit (CES) session along with a massive booth manned by its employees. The CES session was a ‘By Invite Only’ session for C-level leadership in the industry. Our President, Raja Kasilingam along with our Senior Vice President, Mukundh Parthasarathy presented at the 2019 IATA WCS and talked about the ‘Paradigm shift in Air Cargo’ that touched upon the latest trends and issues impacting digital e-commerce and data quality. The event was one of the most prestigious annual events of its kind and the only one to bring together key stakeholders from the entire air cargo supply chain. RTS leadership team was present to mingle with the decision makers and put on a show that was the talk of the town. Our solutions, Foresight, Velocity and AcceleRate piqued the interest of the decision makers and a few of them are expected to be a part of the growing community of these solutions.
RTS at Routes Europe Conference
RTS attended the annual Routes Europe Conference held in beautiful Hannover, Germany from April 8th to 10th as an exhibitor. The team from RTS that participated included Raja Kasilingam- President, Dag Lunde- Director of Business Development and Andi McCall- Marketing Manager.
The conference included a number of airlines not just from Europe but from Asia, America and Africa as well. It provided RTS with a good opportunity to showcase its solutions in addition to networking with delegates. RTS also attended the Welcome Reception held at the charming and historical Hannover Town Hall where attendees mingled, had cocktails and listened to great music. In addition, RTS also attended the networking evening event that took place at The Royal Gardens in Hannover Herrenhausen, considered to be one of the most beautiful garden parks in Europe. Attendees danced the evening away while listening to live music, ate authentic German food and got to view a spectacular fireworks show.
CNS Conference, Miami
RTS attended the CNS Partnership Conference 2019 held in Miami, USA from May 5th to 7th as delegates. The team from RTS that participated included Raja Kasilingam – President, and Mukundh Parthasarathy – Senior Vice President. The conference included a number of airlines not just from America but from Asia and Europe as well. It presented RTS a good opportunity to present its solutions and also network with delegates.
RTS at Miami Aviation Festival
Revenue Technology Services recently attended the Aviation Festival Americas in Miami, Florida that took place at the JW Marriott Marquis from May 14th-15th. RTS was represented by Jason Codd- Senior Vice President of Services, South Africa, Dag Lunde- Director Business Development, Europe and Andi McCall- Marketing Manager, United States.
RTS attended as an exhibitor where we were able to present our products and services. This conference allowed us to meet real buyers and decision makers from airlines all over the world. RTS used the festival to connect and meet with existing customers, partners and potential new prospects and leads. RTS members also attended the networking event that was hosted at the venue where we were able to network with attendees, enjoy the beautiful outside weather and enjoy some cocktails.
Transport Logistics Conference, Munich
Revenue Technology Services, (RTS) recently attended the Transport Logistic Conference in Munich, Germany from June 4th-7th. This was the first time RTS attended the Transport Logistic tradeshow and we attended as delegates. RTS used the tradeshow to connect and meet with existing customers, partners and potential new prospects and leads from the Airlines and Ferry industry. From RTS we had 2 delegates attending; Senior Vice President of Cargo, Mukundh Parthasarathy and Director of Business Development, Dag Lunde. The Transport Logistic tradeshow allows you to meet real buyers and decision makers from both the Aviation and Maritime sector all over the world. This tradeshow is one of the most important industry platforms for the logistics and transport industry and RTS will be present again at this event in 2020 with a booth.
Interferry Conference, London
Revenue Technology Services will be attending the 44th Annual Interferry Conference on October 5-9, 2019 that will be held in London at the InterContinental London – The O2. RTS will be attending as delegates and will be represented by Director of Business Development – Dag Lunde. RTS will use the trade show to connect and meet with existing customers, partners and potential new prospects and leads from the Ferry industry. The Interferry Conference allows individuals to meet a great number of owners and top-level decision-makers in the ferry industry from all over the world. This Conference is one of the most important industry platforms for the Ferry industry and this is representing the ferry industry worldwide.

Air Canada Cargo goes live with RTS Foresight
We are pleased to announce that Air Canada, the largest airline of Canada by fleet size and passengers and cargo carried, has gone live with the RTS Foresight solution in the cargo division.
Air Canada Cargo has completed the implementation of our revenue planning and sales budgeting solution, Foresight. Foresight considers schedules, capacity, demand, routes, equipment characteristics and shipment characteristics to find the value of schedules, set annual revenue targets for the air cargo organization along with sales target and tracking for the sales team at flight, origin-destination and market level. With this, Air Canada Cargo joins the growing cargo community here at Revenue Technology Services. This also reflects the thought leadership demonstrated by both of the companies to jolt the normal standards and make drastic improvements to how air cargo is managed in the industry.

Ellinair joins the RTS Family
Please welcome RTS in welcoming the newest member to the RTS Velocity family – Ellinair. Ellinair selected RTS as its preferred revenue management provider at the end of February 2019. Implementation activities commenced towards the end of March 2019 and went live with the RTS Velocity application at the end of June – a short 4 months.
Ellinair was established in February 2013 and started operations in February 2014. The company is a member of the Mouzenidis Group. Ellinair has two main operating hubs in Greece – Thessaloniki (SKG) and Athens (ATH) – with service to around 28 cities in Greece, Europe and Russia. They operate a fleet of 7 aircraft which includes Airbus A319, Airbus A320 and Boeing 737-300. Ellinair will be utilizing the RTS Velocity system to initially manage their domestic routes and rolling out the management of their international routes in two stages. We are thrilled to have Ellinair on board with us!
Color Line and Round Trip Optimization for CruiseFerries
Over the last twelve months RTS has been working very closely with Color Line, through a series of workshops, to develop a segment based round-trip based optimization process, and worksheet display, to allow the management of sailings where a cruise package is a significant or predominant market sector. This new optimization routine optimizes the outbound and inbound sailings together, as a single departure, to evaluate if a return cruise product is more valuable than one transportation booking on either Leg, or a transportation booking on both Legs.
In addition, a vehicle deck space availability check is used, based on vehicle class type and usage rate, to ensure cabins are not wasted by allocating to transportation passengers that cannot be taken on either Leg.
This new optimization approach helps to solve the problem of imbalanced sailings, where one Leg has fewer cabins available than the other. This is fully integrated with existing RTS Velocity functionality such as the Cruise Pricing Controller which applies price point rules based on cabin imbalances and lane metre availability on each Leg. As the round-trip departure will also impact the following or previous sailing, the surrounding sailings are taken into account with the initial allocation of space, as well as redistribution of excess space through the Adaptive Distribution Weights control. This process is applied to all future sailings down the optimization ‘chain’. A new worksheet display has been devised to show the two linked sailings together, with some space saving changes and workflow improvements.

Cargo Maintenance Releases
RTS Cargo Products maintenance release will be available for Client community by end of October 2019. The release includes major technology upgrades and various product specific enhancements as given below:
Velocity (Airlines & Cruise Ferries)
The maintenance release for Velocity includes multiple enhancements in Capacity Management module to display hurdle rate profile and booking profile to view the data at transaction level. The Allotment Management modules includes automatic re-accommodation of allotments and ability to view released allotments and option for users to define critical rules for allotments. The Network Management module enhancements include a re-designed booking evaluation user interface and ability to setup alerts for monitoring the hurdle rates based on business rule. The release also includes other minor enhancements and bug fixes.
The maintenance release for AcceleRate includes product upgrade with new look, rating engine dynamic business rules and hierarchy logic functionality, re-designed customer value/spot pricing matrix and router integration with spot pricing module.
The maintenance release for Foresight includes enhanced optimization scenario output user interface and additional reports. The release also includes other minor enhancements and bug fixes.
Our services team will be contacting the Client’s project managers to schedule the maintenance release deployment.
Product Happenings – Passenger
During the 2018 summit, and various follow up correspondence thereafter, we polled our client base for their priorities in terms of product needs for the 2019 release. This process allows us to focus development on the items which are important to as broad a base of clients as possible, and provide the functionality which they can absorb in the timeframe.
As a result, the expected scope for the 2019 Passenger velocity release later in the year will include the following: Improved Forecast Workbench
Forecasting is a critical element of the revenue management system, and are a vital component of the optimization process. It is therefore extremely important that the process of configuring, creating and ongoing management of forecasts is made as user friendly as possible.
Price Management and Price Optimization (initially for Cruise Ferries)
Where complex pricing structures and controls exist in booking systems, it is sometimes difficult for analysts to see exact pricing and manage this. Price Management is designed to provide an alternate view of the departure from a traditional revenue management perspective, allowing them to view and amend a range of pricing criteria and send these to the booking system initially, and in subsequent phases, allow for the recommendation of specific pricing levels based on a number of drivers, both internal and external.
Dynamic Reporting Changes/API
Provides the ability to create additional custom built reports based on the key fields in the RTS Velocity database in a simpler fashion. The user can select the required parameters and variables to create their own reports. In addition, scheduled reports can be shared through e-mail distribution, or pushed directly to BI or Data Visualization tools directly, or via an API.
The existing Key Departure Monitor allows the user to configure multiple rules based on critical criteria and variables and build lists to display these departure, with additional graphical comparative bookings data. These critical criteria will be expanded significantly in the upcoming release, with an emphasis on airline needs since the initial release included more cruise-ferry components.
Competitive Insight Changes
The Competitor Insight module currently consumes third party competitor pricing data and displays it to provide the analyst with pricing intelligence and vital information for decision-making. The changes add parameters for the users to define competitors based on different criteria, as well as add additional fare options and space availability if data provided.
Departure Type/Route Groups
Allow for additional layer to allow grouping, settings and reporting at a single line item for all departures within the “Groups”.
Mass Adjustment Filtering Criteria
These changes will extend the capabilities of the Mass Adjustments functionality to allow for detailed querying of criteria for selecting the records to which mass adjustments would apply.
Whilst we believe the products are generally very efficient from a usability perspective, some lesser used components will be getting an overhaul in this release to simplify amendments, reducing keystrokes and entries needed.
Segment Based round-trip Optimization
For some Cruise Ferry companies the round-trip mini-cruise product is a significant element of their business. This requires cabin space on both the outbound and return leg of the journey, but will compete with high-value one-way transport traffic on one or more of the legs. The key functionality of this component is to optimize the outbound and inbound departures together as a single segment based departure. It includes a new segment based worksheet to review and analyse the round-trip departure.
Additional Business Rules
Additional Business rules have been included for validation of schedule to include:
Curfew Time – used to define the effective and discontinue time between which any equipment cannot operate at the station.
Slot Constraint – used to define the number of slots available for any equipment at any station at any specific date and time.
BR Versioning – allow “versions” of rules so these can be associated with different schedule scenarios without impacting existing.
Berth Constraint (Cruise Ferries) – specific ships can only go to specific berths in a port.
Ship/Equipment Allocation – restricts equipment to particular preferred routes
Maneuvering Constraint (Cruise Ferries) – A port channel constraint, where there cannot be multiple ships arriving in port and departing simultaneously. This is a 2 factor rule, 1 for maximum number of ships, and another for time gap between arrivals and departures.
Tidal restrictions (Cruise Ferry) – a type of curfew based on access to a port during tidal variations
Usability and Display Enhancements
General usability enhancements to improve user experience and reduce the mouse clicks needed to perform certain tasks. In addition, the entire puck view is redesigned in the Cruise Ferry version to allow for easy display of both short and long departures, and easier moving of pucks within the grids.
RTS likes to give back to the community and have paired up with a great organization called Crossroads Community Services located in Dallas, TX. Crossroads focuses on providing food and other items for individuals and families with limited or no income at all. Crossroads not only provides a food source for those in need, but also provides a variety of fresh produce so individuals may get the vitamins and nutrients we all need!
RTS team members meet on a monthly basis to volunteer at the Crossroads Community Center where everyone partakes in a variety of activities which include but are not limited to sorting food items, packaging and sorting produce, stocking items on shelves, gathering and packing food items for families, loading items in vehicles, etc. Volunteering has really given all of us here at RTS a great sense of what community really means and how we can give back to those in need.
