Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Database Support Engineer to support and enhance SQL Server databases used by our applications. This role involves troubleshooting database-related issues, optimizing SQL code, supporting development teams, and ensuring the overall health of the database environment.
Experience required: Minimum 5 years
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
- Support development teams with database-related guidance, including schema design and data modeling.
- Assist with the implementation of database changes and upgrades for new application features.
- Resolve database performance issues, deadlocks, and connection problems.
- Address application tickets related to database functionality or performance within SLA guidelines.
- Debug database code in collaboration with developers and QA to identify and resolve issues.
- Analyze query execution plans and improve performance through tuning and indexing.
- Collaborate with database administrators to manage capacity, storage, and replication.
- Use database monitoring tools to track system performance and detect anomalies.
- Maintain technical documentation on database schemas, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements for data management.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in database development and support, particularly with SQL Server.
- Proficiency in designing and optimizing stored procedures, views, and triggers.
- Familiarity with indexing, partitioning, and other optimization techniques.
- Experience with ticketing systems and monitoring tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience working PostgreSQL, MongoDB and applications hosted on Azure/AWS will be a plus.
- Experience working in travel and transportation domain will be a plus.
